MALTA – Glenn Neff McGhie, 87 year old Malta resident was called home Monday, October 24, 2005, at his home in Malta. He was born July 28, 1918, the third of four children born to Earl and Maude McGhie. Glenn lived in the Salt Lake City, Utah area where he graduated from high school and attended college before joining the army in 1941. He served in the army until 1945.
Being very good with his hands, Glenn made a living installing interiors in the “Houses of the Stars” in southern California in the 40`s, 50`s and 60`s. In 1974, Glenn married his life partner, Nila Shelton and they moved to Malta, where they resided until the time of his death.
Glenn served as a City Councilman in Malta from 1975 to 1978. As an avid sports fan he spent many years following many teams. He also was an expert golfer and spent countless hours on any course he could find. Glenn was very proud of his children and grandchildren, and though could not always be in touch with them, could always be caught relating the latest news of all to anyone would listen.
Survivors include his wife, Nila of Malta; a brother, Don McGhie of Salt Lake City, Utah; three sons, Glenn (Coleen) McGhie, Jr. of Tollhouse California, John Devlin of Burley, and Todd (Carol) McGhie of Rupert; three daughters, Jackie Wasikowski of Apple Valley California, Bobby (Brad) Allen and Karen Moss, all of Salina Utah; eighteen grandchildren; and multiple great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jay; a sister, Lois; and a sister-in-law, Louise.
