MRS. EMMA SMITH SUCCUMBS AT MALTA

Mrs. Emma B. Obray Smith aged 79, expired Mar 15 at her home in Malta from ailments incident of old age. She was born at Ogden, Ut. Dec 5 1857 the daughter of Samuel W. And Ellen Bainbridge Obray. She had been a long time resident of the Raft River Valley.

Surviving are 2 sisters, Mesdames May Norman of Paradise, Ut. And Adeline Miles of Portland, Ore. And 1 brother Samuel N. Obray of Alberta, Canada and the following children, Bishop John O. Smith of Malta, Mrs. Emma Shaw of Malta, S.N. Smith, Mrs. Pearl Hutchison of Malta.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. from the Malta L.D.S. Church with interment under the direction of Payne Mortuary in the Malta Cemetery.

SERVICES HELD AT MALTA, THURSDAY FOR MRS. EMMA SMTIH

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 1 o’clock at the Malta L.D.S. Church. Bishop’s Counselor Rawlins J. Harper officiating.

The opening song was “Lay Her Gently Down: by a mixed quartet. Bishop Rasmussen of Sublett gave the invocation. Mrs. Joseph P. Payne sang “Mother’s Hymn to Me” I.J. Neddo was the first speaker, Ralph Peterson and wife (A nephew and niece of the deceased) sang “Day Follows Night” Bishop Elihu Beecher was the next speaker.

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Payne sang “Sunset” Joseph Harper was a speaker. The male quartet sang “Our Sister’s Work Is Done.”

Interment was in the Malta Cemetery with Payne Mortuary in charge. The grave was dedicated by Joseph Horne. The pallbearers were grandsons and flower bearers were granddaughters of which there are 38 survivors and 14 great grandchildren.
