Jake Smith

ALBION – Albert P. “Jake” Smith, 73, Albion, died Tuesday, June 14, 1988, at Minidoka Memorial Hospital in Rupert.

He was born August 31, 1914, at Malta, the son of Samuel N. and Vernice Osterhout Smith.

He married Margie Udy Nov. 10, 1937.  She preceded him in death Dec. 23, 1971.  He married Sophie Crosland in Elko, Nevada, on August 12, 1972.

He was a farmer and rancher in Malta, and moved to Albion after his retirement.  He received his education in Malta.  He served with the CCCs and helped build the road between Stanley and Boise.  He was active in the community, helping start the Raft River-Malta Volunteer Fire Department.  He was…[missing]

He was preceded in death by his first wife, a daughter, and two sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon Friday, June 17, at the Malta Ward Chapel with George Darrington officiating.  Burial will be in Malta Cemetery.

Friends may call at Hansen Mortuary Chapel, Rupert, Thursday afternoon and evening and at the church in Malta one hour prior to the services on Friday.

The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity.
