TWIN FALLS — Selma Shaw Morrell, 74-year-old Twin Falls and former Burley resident, passed away Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006, at the Magic Valley Regional Medical Center in Twin Falls.
She was born Feb. 8, 1931, in Malta, the daughter of Samuel Holbrook and Eliza Cordelia Nye Shaw. She retired from her teaching career in 2000. Selma was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had served a mission to Thailand.
Survivors include five children, Kay (Gail), Greta, Lee Ann (Don) Hein, Kenton and Shawna; three sisters; Marjorie (Jay) Longhurst, Virginia McCulloch and Betty (Keith) Kinghorn; three brothers, Garth (Lareta) Shaw, Harry (Soni) Shaw and Jerry (Beverly) Shaw; 11 grandchildren; and extended Ninh Le family. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Sam.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Burley West Stake Center, 2420 Parke Ave., with Bishop DeVere Burton officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Valley Vu Cemetery in Malta. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, 2006, at the Payne Mortuary, 221 W. Main St. in Burley, and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral on Tuesday at the church.
