Cory Neil Peterson, 22, of Burley, returned to his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015, at his home.

Cory was born on July 25, 1993, in Rexburg, Idaho, the son of Curtiss Neil and Tami Ann Powers Peterson.  He attended elementary school in Burley, and graduated from Burley High School in 2011.  While in high school, Cory developed his love for landscaping and horticulture.  He had a magical touch and spent many hours in the high school greenhouse developing his green thumb.  He was currently attending the College of Southern Idaho.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Chile Viña del Mar and the California Bakersfield missions.

In the spring of 2015, he met the love of his life, Shanae Aland.  In July they were engaged and were to be sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Sept. 11, 2015.

Cory is survived by his parents, Curtiss and Tami Peterson of Burley; his sisters, Ashly Peterson Karlson (Korbyn) of Heyburn, and Kelsee Peterson of Burley; his fiancée, Shanae Aland of Burley; his grandparents, Jim and Janet Powers of Malta, and Ardell and Phyllis Peterson of Hermiston, Ore.; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who dearly loved him.

He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Rozann Powers and Dorothy Peterson.

The funeral was Sept. 14 at the Burley LDS 2nd and 4th Ward Church with Bishop Adam S. Haynes officiating. Burial was in the Valley Vu Cemetery in Malta.

Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Rasmussen Funeral Home of Burley.
