HOUSTON, Texas – Brent Gneiting Goff, 63, of Houston, Texas, was born in Rexburg, Idaho, to Grange and Katherine Goff on Oct. 20, 1947. He passed away in his home, unexpectedly, on July 26, 2011.

Brent was raised in Blackfoot and American Falls, and graduated from American Falls High School. Brent served a full-time mission to San Antonio, Texas, in 1972.

Following his mission, he met and married the late Cathy Gardiner. They had six children. Brent received a bachelor of business administration degree with an emphasis in marketing in 1979, and a master of business administration degree with an emphasis in management and finance in 1981, both from Idaho State University. He received his doctorate from the University of Arkansas in business administration – marketing in 1988.

Throughout his career, Brent taught marketing and business administration classes at North Dakota University, Auburn University, Louisiana Tech, Grambling University, and most recently at the University of Houston Downtown.

Throughout his life, Brent was actively involved in real estate, various professional societies, academic research committees, and local and state politics. In his spare time, Brent enjoyed writing music, dancing, and spending time with his sons tinkering on vehicles and doing other outdoor activities.
Brent also was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he loved serving in whatever capacity he was asked. Brent was a faithful home teacher, LDS temple worker, and statewide LDS Single Adult representative.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Grange and Katherine Goff, one sister, Sheryl Goff Rayworth, as well as his ex-wife, Cathy Goff. Brent is survived by his six children, Brooke Goff Alley (Aric), Brittany Goff, Brock Goff (Lacy), Brady Goff, Brianna Goff, and Brandt Goff; four grandchildren, Toby, Eli, Adalee and Gideon Alley; his former father- and mother-in-law, Golden and Barbara Gardiner; as well as his siblings, Marla Goff, Gayle Goff Eames (Mike), Wade Goff (Jackie), Connie Goff Jimerson, Neil Goff, Brenda Goff Naylor (Jerry), and Brian Goff (Margaret).

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, at the Malta LDS Church, with Bishop Jeff Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Valley Vu Cemetery. Friends may call from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. Thursday at the church.
