Then they proceeded to put on one of the most entertaining assemblies of the year, entitled “It Pays to be Ignorant.” Showing the life and vitality that is characteristic of the class, they kept the student body wrapped up in one big long laugh during the assembly. The next time the Freshmen began to sparkle was when they were called upon to give their second and third assemblies, which were also a success. Incidentally, it seems too Freshmen take part of the credit for making the song, “Chikeeta Banana”, famous. After their last assembly, they auctioned a big turkey besides having a very interesting motion picture. The Freshmen also came through with the class championship in boys’ basketball. After playing each class team and winning each time by a large margin, they were proclaimed champions by Coach Shaw. It was truly a great ending for the time and practice they put in during the year and was well deserved. More power to them next year.About May 4, the Freshmen decided they had earned a little vacation, so they voted to take a class excursion. They left Malta Saturday morning at 8:00 o’clock and wen to Indian Springs to swim and have a picnic lunch. They then journeyed to American Falls and inspected the American Falls Dam, inside and out. While at American Falls they also inspected the State Fish Hatchery, which was very interesting, they then went on to Rupert to a show and then home. Everyone had a swell time. The Freshmen class showed its executive material by placing Ann Erickson as Secretary in the Study Body Officers. All in all, the Freshmen have a good start. Let’s say more power to a swell class next year.Freshman Class1st Row: Lafayette Carnahan, Merna Carnahan, Neal Darrington, Rulon Darrington2nd Row: Joe Durfee, Ann Erickson, Beth Harper, Billy Jones.3rd Row: Dorothy Morris, Babe Olson, Ann Pettingill, Mary Phelps.4th Row: Ray Rasmussen, Ray Rentmiester, Robert Thompson, Buddy WardCont. on Sophomore page: Laretta Wickel, Donna Wight, Gloria Gardiner.Camera Shy Students: Bud Hubbard and Gale WardFreshmen (cont): Laretta Wickel, Donna Wight, Gloria Gardiner.Sophomores1st Row: Evelyn Barrett, Joyce Booth, Darrel Carnahan, LaVora Green2nd Row: Don Hill, O’dell Hutchison, Wally Hutchison, Kirby Rice3rd Row: DeLoy Ottley, Alta Shill, Billy Tracy, Joy Wickel1st Row: Grant Beyler, Collin Booth, Carlos Carnahan, Dale Edwards.2nd Row: Margaret Gardiner, Nish Hutchison, Shirley Jones, Jerry Olson.3rd Row: Billy Pettingill, Dean Rentmiester, Bob Smith, Elvin Taylor.4th Row: Carolyn Thompson, Jeannine Wake, Bob Williams1st Row: Melba Adams, Lorin Barrett, Roma Carnahan, Roy Green.2nd Row: Rula Hall, Douglas Harper, Annell Neddo, Leo Ottley.3rd Row: Olga Parish, Phil Parish, [missing], Ramona Shaw4th Row: Lowell Taylor, Kay [missing surname]Seniors1st Row: Melba Adams, Lorin Barrett, Roma Carnahan, Roy Green2nd Row: Rula Hall, Douglas Harper, Annell Neddo, Leo Ottley.3rd Row: Olga Parish, Phil Parish, Fred Pettingill, Ramona Shaw4th Row: [missing name], Maxine Butler, Kay Darrington (camera shy) Hi School Hash Hi School Hash was a little pamphlet for the classes to sign and draw their classmates.
